Beauty: Village Spa Experience

Last week before the madness of Christmas begun, I was invited along to The Village Hotel for the Village Spa Christmas Blogger Event. The purpose of the event was to check out the beautiful spa and experience a treatment.

The Village Hotel is conveniently located in Glasgow's Pacific Quay right behind the BBC building which is an ideal place to stay if you are visiting the city for a concert at the Hydro or even a girly weekend of shopping. The spa is very popular for girly weekends away and I can see why due to the location and relaxing atmosphere in spa.

The Village Hotel has 18 hotels located across the country which offer day breaks and overnight packages combining a spa treatment, use of the leisure facilities and dinner. In the spa they offer a wide range of treatments including facials, waxing, manicures and massages. The treatments are carried out using the high quality products from brands such as ESPA, St Tropez and Jessica.

When I arrived at the Village Spa I was greeted by the lovely Ella and treated to fizz and canapes. I met the rest of the team who were also lovely and we had a chat about the spa and the treatment I was going to have. I opted for the De-stress Back Massage and Light Legs which is described as: a relaxing and de-stressing back massage to target and release areas of tension plus an invigorating leg and foot treatment including a massage that will leave you feeling like you are walking on air.

I had been looking forward to the treatment since I received the invitation and felt it was the perfect time to be pampered as I had spent most of December runnung around doing Christmas shopping, attending Christmas parties, nights outs and blog events so this was the perfect way to relax.

My treatment was carried out by Alisa who made me feel at ease as soon as I entered the treatment room. The treatment itself was absolute bliss. I was so relaxed the for the full hour of the treatment and didn't want it to end, in fact, I could have easily fallen asleep. Ailsa started the treatment with a back massage and then moved on to the leg and foot treatment. The leg treatment also included a body scrub followed by a leg massage which left my skin feeling so soft.  At the end of treatment Ailsa explained that the following day I might feel a bit tender but I felt amazing the next day and all the tension in my muscles were relieved.

Before I left, I was given a huge bag of goodies including: St Tropez, ESPA, Jessica and High Definition Beauty, all of which can be purchased at Spa. I can't wait to have a pamper night and try all my new products.

If you fancy treating yourself to a treatment at the Village Spa you have until the 31st January to use my code LINSAY25 to receive 25% off your first online booking at www.village-hotels.com/spa

Thanks again to The Village Spa for inviting me along to a fantastic event. I had such a great night and can't wait to visit the Spa again.

Beauty: Last Minute Gift Ideas

If you have left your Christmas shopping until the very last minute or just have a couple of stocking fillers to pick up then I have some great suggestions for you.

Arran Aromatics has recently went through a re-brand and have relaunched as Arran Sense of Scotland. They have renamed their entire product range (apart from After the Rain so don't panic if you are a fan of this popular range) and come up with sleek new packaging.

I went along to the relaunch in Buchanan Galleries to find out more about the new range. They have a wide range of gift sets and stocking fillers to choose from. And if you are really stuck, believe me, you can't go wrong with a candle.

One of my favourite places for stocking fillers is Lush. Everyone loves to find a Lush Bath Bomb in their stocking. From it's hugely popular Snow Fairy range to festive bubble bars there is something for everyone.  I was lucky enough to spend a fun filled evening in their Sauchiehall Street store last week where we were able to check out the Christmas range and make our own bubble bars. I love pretty much everything in Lush but here are my top picks for stocking fillers which are all under £10.

Little Snow Fairy Gift Set £9.95

Father Christmas Bath Bomb £3.75

Santasaurous Re-useable Bubble Bar £5.95

Beauty: Seven Seas Perfect7 Woman

Most of us use lots of lotions and potions to look after our skin and prevent aging on the outside but aside from exercising, eating healthy and drinking plenty of water have you thought of additional ways to help prevent aging from the inside?

The experts at Seven Seas have researched the benefit of marine oils for over 70 years and have identified 7 vital needs for woman and combined them together to develop Perfect7

Perfect7 is a combination of Natural Source Marine Oil with Omega 3, including vital multivitamins and minerals which helps your body's cells to absorb nutrients as you grow older.  Research has shown Perfect7 can help to support the following:

1. Skin & Nails - Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal skin and nails
2. Hair - Biotin contributes to the maintenance of normal hair
3. Energy - Magnesium contributes to energy yielding metabolism
4. Brain - DHA contributes to normal brain function
5. Vision - Vitamin B2 contributes to maintenance of normal vision
6. Heart - EPA & DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart†
7. Hormonal Activity - Vitamin B6 helps to regulate hormonal activity

I was sent a month's supply to try and I can already see and feel some of the benefits.

Before taking  Perfect7 I would find myself having a nap in front of the tv most evenings but the past few weeks I've definitely found myself to be more alert in the evening and feel my energy levels are higher.  Even my boyfriend has commented how I haven't been falling asleep on the sofa as much recently so I do feel the Perfect7 is having a postive effect on my energy levels and brain.  My skin has also show positive effects, it's less dry and more hydrated.

Like most anti aging products, I believe they are designed to prevent and not reverse the signs of aging so in order to benefit from all of the above I do believe the Pefect7 would have to taken for a longer period of time for your body to benefit from all 7. Overall, I have been impressed with how much better they have made me feel and improved my skin texture and would happily spend my own money on this product after trying a sample.

Lifestyle: Pick 'n' Melt Christmas Gift Pack

One of the first things I do when I get home in the evening is light a few candles as I love to create a cosy atmosphere and fill the house with my favourite scents. So when I heard about Pick 'n' Melt, I couldn't wait to try their products.

As well as candles, I'm a big lover of wax melts as I think they give off a stronger scent when melting on my wax warmer.

Pick 'n' Melt have over 250 scents to choose from and each little bag is made up of 6 small cubes (1cm x 1cm x 1cm) and can form 100s of different combinations. I was sent the Christmas gift pack to try which includes, a Wax Warmer and 16 melt bags which are made up of 2 packets of 8 different Christmas scents: Christmas Time, Christmas Spice, Robin Red Breast, Mistletoe & Wine, Cocoa & Log Fire, Frankensense & Myrrh, Snow and Festive Tree.

I used a packet (6 cubes) on the wax warmer at a time (they suggest using 6 -12 cubes) but honestly, 6 cubes is enough.  I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly the little cubes filled the room with the most wonderful Christmas scent. I have since warmed the melts 3/4 times until my tea light burns out and they have retained their scent which is really impressive.

Once I'm finished with the wax melt, I let it set and then pop the top of the wax warmer in the freezer over night. When I remove the following morning I gently press around the edge with a knife the wax just pops right out leaving zero mess so you can use your next melt.

If you know any candle lovers this set would make such a lovely Christmas gift or would be a lovely gift for yourself on the run up to Christmas and at only £12, it's such good value for money as there are enough scents to fill your home with a festive scent until the New Year.

Lifestyle: Christmas Gift Guide for Her

Can you believe Christmas is less than three weeks away? I'm normally much more organised by this time but I still have lots more shopping to do. I'm one of these people who goes out to Christmas shop but comes home with lots of gifts for myself. I do get there in the end but it takes many trips to the shops and lots of online shopping.

Christmas shopping can be so overwhelming as there is so much choice and some poor guys don't know where to start.  So if you are looking for a gift for that special lady, you can't really go wrong with jewellery, candles and make-up so check out my top picks.

Cosy slippers from Primark make a great stocking filler and who doesn't need slippers in their life, these fluffy slippers are super cosy for cold the Winter nights. Another fab stocking filler, a candle and this one from Shearers Candles has a lovely festive scent. Every girl loves a red lip right? Add a bit of glamour to Christmas Day with this bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick.

There are so many eyeshadow pallets to choose from but the bareMinerals wish list pallet should be at the top of every girls Christmas list this year. With soft matte and brown metallic tones these eye shadows are perfect for all skin tones.

A favourite of mine every year is this Iconic LancĂ´me Hypnose set. It's such good value as the set costs the same price as the mascara on its own and the mascara adds amazing volume to lashes.

For the main present, how about a beautiful watch from Kartel watches.  This one is sold out at the moment but there is a similar one here and the Harris Tweed range is gorgeous.

* These items have been gifted to me as pr samples from Intu Braehead, Shearers Candles, Bare Minerals and Kartel Watches.

Lifestyle: This Weeks Adventures #2

Turns out, my life isn't exciting enough to have a "This Weeks Adventures" post every week but thankfully this week has involved a few exciting blog related events.

On Tuesday, I was invited along to Chiquitos at Soar at Intu Braehead to check out the Christmas Fiesta Sharing Boards. There were three to choose from, the Veggie Medley, the Texan Selection and the Merry Mexican. We went for the Merry Mexican which included all my favorite Mexican foods, chilli, paella, burritos and tacos and we completely cleared the board as it was absolutely delicious.

I also sampled a few of the festive cocktails.  The Glitterball which had edible glitter, tasted as good as it looked and the Winter Spiced Sangria was like a traditional sangria with a festive twist of Winter spices.

On Thursday, I went along to the Superdrug blogger event which was held in Glasgow's Argyle Street store.  The purpose of the event was to check out the Christmas range and beauty services which includes brow threading and lash extensions. We were also gifted a gift card so we could shop the store on the night. I picked up some must have products, one of which I've been dying to try for ages the B. Hyaluronic Acid Facial Spritz. We were also given a goodie packed full of Superdrug products so look out for some reviews.

I ended the week putting up my Christmas tree. I absolutely love Christmas and I'm so excited the festive season has finally arrived. Next week I have a few festive events to attend so hopefully I will have some festive post for you.

I hope you all had a great week.

Beauty: Styling Products for the Perfect Blow Dry

I have really thick hair which can be such a chore to take care of. It takes me ages to blow dry and for this reason, I love products that will make this task easier while protecting it at the same time which is why I choose the above products to try.

These products were sent to me from the lovely team at The Beauty Booth, an online store which stocks a vast range of best selling hair products from salon professional brands including Moroccan Oil, Redken, Neal & Wolf, Kerastase and many more.

This lightweight oil not only protects your hair while blow drying, it reduces the drying time, leaving your hair with a diamond-like hair shine. It also conditions, strengthens and leaves it feeling and looking soft.

I wasn't convinced this was going to reduce the drying time but I was wrong. With only two pumps of this oil applied to my hair, it dried in the half the time leaving my hair so smooth and shinny. I actually love this and would say it's now one of my must have products.

Another heat protection product but this one comes in a spray which protects your hair from heat up to 232 degrees. Packed full of Vitamins including, A, B6, B12, C and E, this can really help to repair damaged hair.

When I used this, it left my hair feeling like silk and smelt gorgeous. I can really see it has improved the condition of my hair and made it more manageable.

After using both products for a month I can see they both have amazing benefits and I like to use them together for the perfect blow dry. The oil for time saving and an amazing shine and the spray for repairing and leaving my hair silky smooth.

You can receive 10% off your first order at The Beauty Booth or if you are quick you might be able to catch their Black Friday offer of 20% off that end this weekend.

*These products were sent to me as a PR sample but these views are my own.

Travel: The Cotswolds

Last week we packed up the car and set off on a little road trip to the Cotswolds. We picked Stow on the Wold as our base for exploring as it's close to loads of pretty towns and villages each only a 15/20 minute drive away.

We stayed in a lovely little hotel, The Sheep on Sheep Street which had recently been refurbished to a very high standard. We had a cosy little room on the top floor with the most beautiful bathroom. Honestly the hotel gave me serious interiors envy.

During our stay we managed to fit in quite a lot and I managed to visit all the places I planned and more.

Stow-on-the-Wold a pretty little market  town and one of the most well know is situated on an 800 foot hill next to a number of main roads, making it a great place to stay if you plan to do lots of exploring.  There is a market square surrounded by lots of lovely shops, tea rooms and cosy pubs. As you can imagine, the pubs had exposed brick walls and log fires making them super cosy this time of year. Our favourites were the Porch House (which is said to one of the oldest Inn's in England) The Sheep on Sheep Street (the hotel we stayed in) and The Kings Arms.

Moreton-in-Marsh is one of the main market towns in the area and lucky for us we visited on a Tuesday which is when they have a large market of upto 200 stalls. It also had lots of quaint tearooms and antique shops full of little gems.

Bourton-on-the-Water has been described as the 'Little Venice' of The Cotswolds as the town sits along a beautiful canal. It's one of the most popular with visitors and is so picturesque. I found the cutest little Christmas shop where I had to refrain myself from buying everything.

Lower and Upper Slaughter are two separate villages and the prettiest in The Cotswolds. They are just how you imagine The Cotwolds to look. There is an old mill that sits along the river and the most romantic street in Britain, Copse road. The Slaughter's were my favourite of all the places we visited. It was absolutely beautiful and honestly, none of my pictures captured it's true beauty.  You really do have to see it for yourself.

Beauty: The Body Shop Christmas Range

As I'm such a sucker for anything Christmassy, I'm always excited to see the range The Body Shop launches every Christmas. This year they have come up with three new scents: Spiced Apple, Vanilla Chai and Frosted Berries.

Spiced Apple, my favourite of all three is enriched with apple fruit extract from the Italian Alps.  To give it that Christmas armoa, the scent also includes cinnamon and orange and smells as good as freshly baked apple pie straight from the oven.

Vanilla Chai enriched with vanilla extract from Madagascar is a sightly more subtle scent. Warmed with cardamon and star anise for a rich Christmas scent that smells good enough to drink.

Frosted Berries smells the freshest in the Christmas range. It's enriched with cranberry seed oil from North America, fresh berries, white flowers, praline and vanilla

As well as the three new Christmas scents The Body Shop have launched three advent calendars containing some Body Shop favourites. Prices start from £60 to £99 however the contents inside have a value of much more.

Have you purchased any of the Christmas range?

*Some of the items were given to me as PR samples.

Lifestyle: This week's adventures #1

I've decided to try something new on my blog and post about what I've been up to every week. Here's hoping every week is as fun filled as this one or I will have nothing to write about.

The past week or so has been filled with lots of exciting blog events.  First up, Specsavers Scottish press show which was held in Bo Concept, a really cool Danish furniture store.  I wrote a post for them way back in February so go check it out here if you want to know more.

When I arrived at the press show, the window had been designed by Claire Barclay. Isn't it cool? I had such a fun evening. I sipped prosecco while being treated to a hand and arm massage followed by a manicure. I even found a pair of the golden glasses that had been hidden in the store and won a £150 Specsavers voucher. This means I can treat myself to a pair of the frames I was eyeing up (see what I did there lol).

After the Specsavers press show, I headed to Buchanan Galleries to meet my blogging buddie, Chantelle where we went to bareMinerals to check out the Christmas range and to be colour matched for the new barePRO product. Look out for some product reviews on the blog soon.

On Tuesday, I popped in to House of Fraser to see the lovely Benefit girls for a Benefit Brow Treatment. I love that the girls conceal the area after the treatment so I don't have to walk about with my brow area looking red. I also had a chance to see some of the lovely Christmas sets that had just arrived in store.

The following evening, myself and Chantelle grabbed a Starbucks and went along to the Bodyshop's VIP shopping evening. We were able to check out the Christmas sets and the advent calendar's while sipping fizz and treated to hand and arm massages. I purchased some of the new Christmas range and was also gifted some in a goodie bag. The spiced apple was my favourite as it smells good enough to eat.

On Thursday night, I went to Shearers Candles to check out the new store (they have moved to a bigger store upstairs in Princes Square). The shop was filled with their Christmas stock and looked so pretty and Christmassy. It has put me right in the mood, even if it's only the start of November.

As well as events I enjoyed some Autumn walks. I'm sure you can tell from my Instagram I'm Autumn obsessed.

This week, I'm off to the Cotswolds so join me over on Instagram to follow my adventures and look out for a blog post.
