Beauty: Transform Glasgow

A few weeks I was invited along to the Transform blogger event at the Glasgow Clinic to watch demonstrations of non surgical procedures. These were a Glycolic peel, Botox and Lip Fillers. The event was really interesting and I feel so much more clued on these procedures than I was before.

When we arrived we were greeted by Sophie and treated to these fabulous cupcakes. We were then talked through the demonstrations and they all seem far less scary than I thought.

The Glycolic Peel
When I think of a peel, I imagine that episode of Sex and The City when Samantha turns up at Carrie's book launch with an over sized hat and black vale covering her face as she had a terrible reaction to a chemical peel. Well, it was so not like that, the girl who had the peel was absolutely glowing afterwards.

The Glycolic Peel, carried out using Obaji products, removes the dead skin from the face leaving the skin smooth and glowing. Once people have had the peel they will really feel the benefit of their serum and moisturiser as it's able to penetrate the skin better.

Botox
The second demonstration was Botox. This procedure was the one I was most interested in as I don't like the lines on my forehead and I have often considered Botox. The Nurse carrying out the Botox explained that Botox should really be carried out by a Doctor or a Nurse and good quality Botox should range from £250 - £299 which makes me skeptical about these deals I see online for £99.

Botox is a protein that relaxes the muscle and smooths out lines. It normally wears off after about 6 months with no long term effects. It was really interesting to hear the other uses of Botox. It's used to reduce sweating, twitching above the eye and even to help migraines.

Lip Fillers
The 3rd and final procedure was Lip Fillers. This is probably one of the most talked about procedures at the moment due to Kylie Jenner recently admitting to having Lip Fillers and the girls from Transform told how their website hits went through the roof with people researching this procedure.

The Lip Fillers looked the most painful procedure out of all three but honestly, the girl having the procedure barely flinched when it was being carried out.  You are given an anesthetic to numb the area and then the lips are injected with the Juvederm lip filler. The results were instant as you can see from the pictures.

When leaving we were treated to goodie bags filled with anti aging products which I'm really looking forward to trying out. Thanks again to Label PR for inviting me along to this event.

Beauty: May nailbox

We have a new beauty subscription box in town and this one is for nail lovers. Say hello to nailbox. The nailbox is now on it's 2nd month and I was lucky enough to be sent the May box to review.

The nailbox is sent out on a monthly basis and contains the hottest nail colours and essential nail tools. The May box contained:

Nicole by OPI in by the Books nail varnish
Essie Status Symbol nail varnish
Rimmel Lucky Lilac nail varnish
ORLY Fiery Orange Color Blast nail varnish
Elegant Touch Cuticle Pusher and Nail Cleaner

The nailbox is great value for money as the contents of this box adds up to approx £35 and the monthly subscription is only £15 (or £13.50 is you sign up for 12 months). The box is dispatched on the 21st of each month and tracked via Royal Mail, which is reassuring.

I really liked the May nailbox and thought the pastel colours are great for summer plus the cuticle tool was something I really needed. I used the Nicole by OPI in by the Books and Rimmel Lucky Lilac nail varnish to create this look below.

The only negative comment I have would be about the packaging. I was slightly disappointed when it arrived in just a brown cardboard box and felt it would have made more of an impact in a nice pretty box similar to The Glossybox or The Birchbox.

Have you tried the nailbox?

*This was sent to me as a PR sample but all my views are my own.

Beauty: Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue

When it comes to my base, I don't like a heavy coverage as I just hate the feeling of it on my skin. I mainly use BB or CC creams but just felt the one I had recently purchased wasn't giving me the coverage I wanted, so I decided I would give the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue a go.

The Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue describes itself as a multitasking genius with a mix of skincare and make-up benefits. It's like a BB, CC cream and tinted moisturiser all rolled into one.

I was going to purchase online but as they have 10 different shades to choose from, I thought I would be best to go to the Bare Minerals counter for a colour match. I popped into the Bare Minerals Counter in Debenhams this week (as they had 10% off beauty and I love a bargain) and one of the girls colour matched me.

The Complexion Rescue feels absolutely amazing and so light once applied. It felt more like a moisturiser I was applying as it felt so hydrating. It can either be applied with your finger tips or a brush. I opted for my finger tips as I feel you end up using more of a product when you use a brush. The results were impressive. It gave a really good natural coverage without the feeling that I had heavy make-up on. The coverage can be built up by adding another layer. Did I mention it also has a SPF 30, this is always something I look for in my base.

Overall I was super impressed with this and really glad I made the purchase.

The Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue is £26 for a 35ml.
